This Alfa 75 was 20 years in the making for her owner. As a young man a friend lent him a near new example which bowled him over for a number of reasons, here in his own words:
“My memories of the car are of the sound of the engine, the lightness and balance of the car and an eagerness to be driven. I also remember the absurdity of design - try (i) reaching the stereo (ii) closing a window and changing gear at the same time or (iii) releasing the U-shaped handbrake without pinching your skin!

Owned by the same gentleman since 1990 this old girl last saw the road in 1991! Since then she has been sat variously in dry garages or for the last 10 years or so a barn. Having always intended to undertake the restoration himself, following a number of years in the restoration trade, at age 60 he finally realised that if he ever wanted her to see the road again he was going to have to pass the job on to somebody else!

This has been another of our more 'personalised' projects and also came to us as a 'hospital job'. She arrived having had a very poor quality 'restoration' to the bodywork and again, due ot not following the correct method for application of the paint used was not the colour the owner desired. The finishing touch was the brush painted 'effect' engine bay in black hammerite!

This car came to us as what I call a 'hospital job'. Having been driven 7 years previously by her owner into the first of 2 'restoration' worskhops who agreed to take her on she arrived with us as rolling shell painted to a poor standard and in the wrong colour with lots of unsorted boxes of bits. Our first task was to empty all the boxes out and sort them into relevant groups of parts while making lists of what we had and indeed didn't have. It turned out that we were missing many vital components some large, such as the boot lid, some small such as the door hinges & fuel flap.

This GTV6 is undoubtably the largest and most 'bespoke' project we have undertaken since starting the business in 2002. The owner came to me having never owned or driven a GTV6, but he had lusted after one since seeing & hearing one pull away from a junction as a lad in 1981! We started with a down at heel base car that was ripe & ready for a rebuild. The original breif was to build a fast road/ track car with the emphasis towards track work.

Carry out a bare metal repaint to rectify poor previous paint preparation work. Undertake any metal work repairs found during the course of the strip down. Remove engine and gearbox and all engine bay ancillaries. Carry out a full engine rebuild to fast road spec. Rebuild the gearbox. Refit all parts as required. Carry out a full under body rust protection process including all cavities with Dinitrol 3125. Fit bucket seats & harnesses. Following all the work the car was run in & rolling road tuned where her mild spec engine produced a genuine and usable 156hp.
