Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV6 3.0 24V Special

This GTV6 is undoubtably the largest and most ‘bespoke’ project we have undertaken since starting the business in 2002. The owner came to me having never owned or driven a GTV6, but he had lusted after one since seeing & hearing one pull away from a junction as a lad in 1981! We started with a down at heel base car that was ripe & ready for a rebuild. The original breif was to build a fast road/ track car with the emphasis towards track work.

The owner was very particualar about the small details that were going ot mark his car out as his own and make it ideally suited to his own preferences. As the initial strip down progressed it became clear that this was not going to be your avergage GTV6 build.

To that end it was decided that the best course of action was to strip the shell to teh bare bones and start again. As we were going that far it seemed a good plan to try and irradicate all rust & then try and make sure it never came back! So the shell was sent to SPL in Dudley, acid dipped & then e-coated, an electrolyticly applied coating that etches into the metal & is given a 12 month warranty even in its bare state.

This process involves dipping the shell into a massive tank so all the cavities are coated too. On return further rust uncovered by the acid dipping process required repairing along with some major changes to the bodywork following hte owners decision to run the car wihtout bumpers or plastic trim.
