One of my favourite projects is building a ‘restomod’ style GTV6. The owner of this car is a serial Alfa collector and regular client here. He was very lucky to find a 1 owner example with just 30k miles on as the base car. Nonetheless, being 30 odd years old by the time we got […]
Carry out a bare metal repaint to rectify poor previous paint preparation work. Undertake any metal work repairs found during the course of the strip down. Remove engine and gearbox and all engine bay ancillaries. Carry out a full engine rebuild to fast road spec. Rebuild the gearbox. Refit all parts as required. Carry out […]
This 1967 Fiat Dino coupe had been left pretty much unused for 12 years. All this time was spent garaged fortunately, which meant that she hadn’t deteriorated too badly. The aim was originally to strip her of all exterior trim, lights etc and carry out a full repaint followed by a mechanical recommission to get […]
This GTV6 is undoubtably the largest and most ‘bespoke’ project we have undertaken since starting the business in 2002. The owner came to me having never owned or driven a GTV6, but he had lusted after one since seeing & hearing one pull away from a junction as a lad in 1981! We started with […]
This car came to us as what I call a ‘hospital job’. Having been driven 7 years previously by her owner into the first of 2 ‘restoration’ worskhops who agreed to take her on she arrived with us as rolling shell painted to a poor standard and in the wrong colour with lots of unsorted boxes […]
This has been another of our more ‘personalised’ projects and also came to us as a ‘hospital job’. She arrived having had a very poor quality ‘restoration’ to the bodywork and again, due ot not following the correct method for application of the paint used was not the colour the owner desired. The finishing touch […]
Owned by the same gentleman since 1990 this old girl last saw the road in 1991! Since then she has been sat variously in dry garages or for the last 10 years or so a barn. Having always intended to undertake the restoration himself, following a number of years in the restoration trade, at age […]
This Alfa 75 was 20 years in the making for her owner. As a young man a friend lent him a near new example which bowled him over for a number of reasons, here in his own words: “My memories of the car are of the sound of the engine, the lightness and balance of […]
Practical Performance Car magazine (www.ppcmag.co.uk) recently ran two articles featuring cars prepared by Alex. October 2007 issue contained a GTV6 Buyers’ Guide with some stunning studio shots (see below) of a newly restored, red 3.0 car. The following month Alex’s own 75 featured in a test of “£2K” track cars.
As it did last year, the Goodwood Marshals’ Club track day rounded off the season and, despite the rain, we were keen to get out on the circuit and put in some miles. The Trackfun day a few weeks before at the begining of November had been busy and track time wasn’t in great supply. […]
